Stan Kenton had an agreement with his girl singers. If she wanted to leave the band she had to find her replacement. When Anita O'Day left she found June Christy. When June left she found Chris Connors.

In a world gone frenetic, it's just plain special to listen to a nuanced jazz genius doing his "West Coast Cool" thing. Whether it's morning or after midnight, this is lovely.

In general I am not a fan of jazz but, this is so sweet and smooth, even the muted cymbals make it good.

She never made a bad album, ever, but this is by far my favorite. It’s authentically Aretha and her voice and the powerful emotions and style just make this album the best of all time, with a little help from some classics by Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer

Not sure how many 'Ears' have heard this, but this IS just one slice of the REAL Aretha, such a beautiful gift for all of recorded time:-) Some of us heard young Aretha in Real Life, and we were Moved and Blessed. So y'all might wanna pay attention to Aretha's recordings, This IS Music for Life !!!
